What can you say about that monstrosity. The whole movie feels like a re-recap of all the others with a plot that makes you bored at the very beginning. Somehow it creates a theme that none can truly die yet they are dead - the whole thing seems like a 24 hour space adventure - many cliches which they make know what is going to happen from a milestone - kylo is built like a guy with parental issues and palpatine does nothing at all in the whole movie ( basically you don't have a villain. At the end of the film i only tried to see the reaction of the crowd and i felt relaxed that they were all dissatisfied.

At the time I was a 12 year old girl and I loved that the main character was going to be a female Jedi, absolutely nothing seemed cooler to me! I loved Rouge One as well. Some people say it's too dark, but it's about a literal suicide mission, there was no way everyone was getting a happy ending. Things went off the rails for me the moment that Luke threw his lightsaber over his shoulder.

Me too, but only because I want to fan fiction the fuck out of it and remake it into something resembling something watchable. First thing I'm going to get rid of. bombers. "Dropping bombs. In Space. WHERE THERE'S NO GRAVITY Then, I'm going to alter the entire Rey/Luke dynamic. She's going to get to Ahch-To. Luke is going to toss the light saber. She's going to force pull it right the fuck back from the sea. Luke will look at her with disdain. She'll toss it back saying, Okay, I understand. You think I'm not ready for that. Got it. Luke is going to simply walk away, being reticent to teach her because of what happened with Kylo Ren. which is okay. But. Rey is just going to just follow him around as he goes about his everyday life, thinking him being a total dick to her is part of the rite of passage in order to be trained. So she's going to start drawing lessons from what he's doing, that Luke isn't necessarily intending to teach, but because he's so "at one" with the force he can't help it, and because she's so good, she learns lessons while he's doing mundane-ass boring wax-on, wax-off stuff like brushing his teeth and. combing his hair, and other simple dumb mundane shit, using about 5 or 6 of my favorite Zen Buddhist Koans, adapted to the Star Wars world on Ahch-to, especially the one about the monk carrying the nun across the stream of water, and that's going to be the one that Luke uses to try to get her to drop her obsession with her parents and origin and focus on the present. In other words, eventually, Luke is going to give up not trying to teach her, since she's learning from his intentional-not-teaching, and he's going to teach her. And then there's going to be no more superfluous training bullshit in Rise of Skywalker, because it's going to be clear she's a motherfuckin' Jedi at that point. And from there, maybe after some of that stuff is ret-conned in the first 20 minutes of the movie, I won't have to re-write the whole damn thing, since there were definitely enjoyable parts. For example, I wouldn't change the Poe / Hux "still waiting. Can he hear me" troll-lol-lol gag in the beginning at all, which was awesome until the BOMBERS in ZERO FUCKING GRAVITY came along and ruined the whole damn movie.
In the line for my session, I noticed people leaving the theater with faces full of disappointment from previous sessions.
At the exhibition I was in, only the franchise fan base was able to withstand until the end.
Ocasional viewers left the theater, like if they couldn't see any logic on what was being shown at the screen.
In fact, there wasn't any logic there indeed.
Painful to to watch. If there were any ways to claim refund for my ticket, I would have done so. The issue im having is not that i want to see Kylo kill someone like Finn or Poe to "show he means business" I want to see him actually succeed in doing something He's my most favorite character in the saga, and he keeps getting kicked down. TFA i dont mind because that would've been a mortal wound for literally anyone else but still managed to fight. In TLJ he and Rey play tug of war and he loses (both physically and his fucking mind) and gets made out like a fool against Luke. Here he's angry, meets Palpatine, fights Rey, loses, gets mad again, fights Rey again, loses, gets mopey and becomes a good guy where he fights Palpatine with Rey then dies Of course it will be more detailed than that in the film but i'm worried right now. I've taken this series to be more Kylo's story than Rey's (because we still don't know anything about her other than that her power is matched with Kylo, and since he gets more context and background we can only assume what her feelings are about the situation in the context of "what is Ben feeling/doing. and they have yet to capitalize on it.

It would be interesting if he was a KOR so his character was there the whole time, though I personally think it would be better if he isn't fully "possessed" till they get to the DS2 wreckage in that case. I would like to see a ritual performed by Kylo to supposedly defeat Palp's spirit but it is actually meant to "resurrect" him. I don't really buy the Snoke part unless they do some big retcon (based on his inner monologue in the TLJ novel as he thinks of Palpatine as a separate person and boasts that he has the knowledge Palpatine was searching for. If it is true, then maybe he wasn't aware he was possessed by Palpatine and Palps was just hitching a ride and subtly controlling him. But then why wouldn't Snoke/Palpatine utilize the Sith fleet (just a contingency in an emergency. and why not declare that he is a Sith Lord? Why does he need to hide that he is Palpatine at all? Wouldn't people be more impressed if Palpatine revealed that he is resurrected in this new form.

Vader works better. You forget that Kylo Ren wanted to carry out the legacy that was Darth Vader. Having him there instead of Palpatine shows his conflict of wanting to be like Vader, but with him confronting Rey this shows the person that is luring Ben away from the dark. Plus we're not even sure if Palpatine is resurrected or if he's only included in some other means. Actually, I don't think it was ever confirmed if Ian McDiarmid was even in the film.
